In conjunction with THE BOX THAT ROCKS, MoCADA presents Hip Hop Poetry: A Retrospect in Respect, in the museum’s Extended Gallery. Featured artists in the exhibition include: Justin Bua, Imari Dusauzay, Russell Frederick, Frank Morrison, Noelle Theard and Anderson Zaca. With works ranging from photography to painting, this exhibition depicts a variety of cultural expressions through block parties in Brooklyn, Hip Hop concerts throughout New York City, worldwide free-style rap battles and expressive portraits of famous Hip Hop icons. The work is live, resilient and nostalgic. Reminiscent of the energy that fueled the rise of the musical form, Hip Hop Poetry: A Retrospect in Respect depicts the thread that connects the global Hip Hop Diaspora.
