[#CASTING CALL] Open Casting Call for Collaborative Performance
Seeking: Female, all backgrounds and levels of acting experience welcome
Monday, January 14 | 4-7pm
Studio Museum in Harlem (4th Floor Conference Room), located at 144 West 125th Street New York, NY 10027
Project Type: Live Acting Performance (Two Performances Only)
Writer/Director: Harold Mendez
Synopsis: Harold Mendez’s collaborative-based performance, A blurred and generalized projection of you and me explores a Beckett-like narrative of two characters in an uncertain, barren landscape and their navigation of self and identity. He uses a multidisciplinary approach to illustrate how identity is constructed, dismantled and then stitched together. The two characters (Braille Teeth and Nobody) serve as a format for individuals seeking to transcend boundaries, borders, and the trappings of place. Questioning the definitions of representation, specifically in addressing the real with the imaginary, this work attempts to depict a story of the self and the struggle of rendering into language how one recognizes, defines, and constitutes oneself and the world. The performance will take place as a part of Fore, a major group exhibition of emerging US-based artists of African descent.
