Every year during the month of March, which is National Women’s History Month, we honor 8 rising female icons of color. Can you help us find this year’s 8 worthy nominees. We need a headshot, short bio and a paragraph or two on why this person should be honored as one of our “Heroines of Excellence”.

The Overview
Beauty and the Beat: The Heroines of Execellence Award Fundraising Event is the ultimate party for a cause. In its 4th year of existence, this awards “party/fundraiser” is a night full of elegance, style and hot music…all in the name of philanthropy!

Description
Founded in 2010, this awards show/party has two purposes. 1. to honor 8 women of color who through hard work have become undeniable shooting stars in their respective industries and 2. to raise money for worthy charities/causes.

Past honorees include Maxim baauty and actress Rochelle Aytes, reknown auther Erika Kendrick, the Honorable Shawdya Simpson, international supermodel Maya Haile and celebrity tv/radio medical consultant Dr. Yael “Dr. V” Varnado.

This year we will also be debuting our iconic “BRIDGEBUILDER” award, going to the beautiful female who has blazed paths for our sisters to follow.

General Information
The event itself is not only an awards showcase and fundraiser, its also a showcase for some of NYC’s hottest DJs. Our award recipients are obviously representing the “Beauty”…our DJs provide “The Beat”. Past DJs include DJ CEO of NYC’s popular “The Influence”, DJ Cosi of “The Freedom Party”. DJ Nadia Vidal of Scratch Management and of course the event’s founder, Superhero DJ Jon Quick!

Past hosts have included the lovely actress Bobbi Baker-James of Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne, Miss Black USA 2010 Osas Ighodaro” and former Vibe Magazine Publisher Jocelyn Taylor!
